Another "do not", courtesy of the Previous Owner: do not attempt to hide an unattractive switch plate by scotch taping wallpaper to it.
And while it is true that the switch plate doesn't pass the Martha Stewart Test, it's at least bearable (after a bit of cleanup)
(I do understand the PO's temptation. The switch plate provided as part of the installation kit for the bathroom's heat lamps (a lovely luxury) is a non-standard, what with the switch being oddly shaped AND horizontal. I tried to find a more attractive replacement switch plate, to no avail.)

What a bizarre orientation for the switch though. I guess it's so you can't tell it form the overhead lights? *head scritch*
I don't suppose the switch is rotateable, is it?
But yes, it's native metal shine is much nicer than scotchtaped wallpaper.

you can easily change that switch to a normal one or take the plate to an electrical supply house to get a replacement

I could, but rewiring the switch just so I can use a different switch plate is waaaaaay low on my priority list. Somewhere about 100 items after retiling the other bathroom, fixing the closet lights in the bedroom, repairing the cabinet doors, reflooring the kitchen, etc etc etc.
