Jennifer: Oh, God. Please don't say that. If we haven't sold the house by summer, all this work was just a waste!

Looks amazing! I assume you got a new stoop, too? I can't see it in these pics very well.

I just got a quote to do a yard that's under 900 sqft. Doing it myself is looking more attractive.

Harimad: I have to warn you it is a LOT OF WORK. OMG lot of work. BUT...900 sq ft isn't bad. The bit of yard you saw (which took us two solid days of work) is about 2500 sq ft.
If you decide to do the work yourself, do some reading. I did, and I think that's why our first batch of sod in the back yard "took". We got our soil tested, added the appropriate "amendments", rented a big-ass rototiller and tilled it in, raked it down, rolled it smooth with a (rented) lawn roller, laid the sod, rolled with the lawn mower, and watered copiously every night for 2 weeks.
The entire sodding project totals about 8000 sq ft, and will end up costing around $3500 in sod plus another $500+ in rental fees, fertilizer, etc. And probably 6 days labor all told.
